For sale is a beautiful hand stitched wall hanging quilt made by one of the most well known of the Quilters of Gee's Bend, Lucy M. Mingo.

We also have The Quiltmakers of Gee's Bend DVD signed by four of the quilters, including Lucy Mingo, and The Quilts of Gee's Bend book signed by five of the quilters, also including Lucy Mingo if you're a collector.

Quilts made by Lucy M. Mingo are very hard to come by and are among the most valuable of all the Gee's Bend quilts.

As you can see in the pictures above, this quilt has been signed and stamped by Lucy M. Mingo on the white back.

This small wall hanging quilt measures 18" by 20".

Lucy M. Mingo was born in 1931 and is still living today.  Lucy was a founding member of the Freedom Quilting Bee and was the 2015 recipient of the National Heritage Fellowship awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts which is the highest honor in the folk and traditional arts.

Women of the FQB were active in the civil rights movement and Lucy heard Martin Luther King Jr. speak in Gee's Bend in 1965.  Lucy also accompanied Martin Luther King Jr. on his march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in later the same year.
