Please note; I realise this is overpriced and will likely revise this item/price soon as I learn more about it - my findings below are for buyers as well as myself! (sorry I'm new to speaker cabs - feel free to contact me as I date everything.)

MARSHALL 1969 4X12 CAB 1960b MODEL SERIAL No. 29303
Original 1960's tweed. Missing logo on front. I used this very rarely in 30 years - maybe 3 times (too heavy) and never loud. I bought it around 1988 S/H from Guildford (Nova Guitars) and never used as I found it too heavy to carry. I just discovered these cabs and greenback's are quite rare/sort after. Cash on pickup only.

4 X original 'greenback' speakers. These greenbacks are definitely the best sounding (compared to Vintage (black ones) as you can hear here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CbtOnrcM1M

Here are some articles/docs I used to date this cab and speakers;

I passed all the parts/speakers through this check-list above for fake parts. It's very unlikely there is any fakery in there as I opened the back for 1st time since buying it in 1988 to take the pictures featured (were there any good 1969 fakes around in '88?).

I found this similar looking cab dated 1968 - the speakers are stamped BB(69): https://megatonemusic.com/products/marshall-basket-weave-1982b-4-x-12-straight-cabinet-1969

Looking at this chart; http://www.marstran.com/cabdata/cabdata.html  combining the serial number with speaker specs I found & cabinet styling the cabinet fits the following entry in that chart (subject to more knowledge);

After some research and listening it turns out the oldies (greenbacks) really are bad-boys - much wider deeper 3D sound - the new 'Marshall Vintage' ones are clinical / tight and I'm afraid thin and 1 dimensional. I thought it may just be the 1st video I watched - so I checked out another comparison by different fellow and sure enough - the black ones are totally mono/flat sounding compared to greenbacks; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AqytZ9vjEo

SPEAKERS IN CABINET...

1 x T1281 - Pre-Rola 1969? Celestion Greenback G12H(heavy magnet)-30W 75Hz Greenback with a Pulsonic Cone stamped; 'GC6 R'. "The T1281 is probably the most sought after greenback model of them all! The T1281 first appears around September 1966, and was an exclusive model to Marshall. They were used in the 100 logo 4×12 cabs (model 1982). It is regarded by many as “the Hendrix speaker” because he can clearly be seen using these cabs in old footage. Loud and bassy, with the thick sounding lower mids. Also used by countless other pioneering guitarists back in the 60’s such as Jimmy Page and Ritchie Blackmore."

2 x 1221 - Pre-Rola Celestion 1969 Greenback G12M(medium magnet)-25W 75Hz with a Pulsonic Cone
stamped 'V 6LB' and 'V 10LB'. Because these are both marked 'LB' I think these are the 2 originals? I've seen several speakers on sale marked 'LB' as 1969 (letters in reverse; "Thankfully, most pre-rola speakers do not have back to front date codes, however watch out for them around late 69, this seems to be a bit of a hotspot for them.") "T1221 is Celestion’s most legendary speaker – the classic G12M speaker with the 75Hz cone. Known simply as “the greenback” ever since its reissue in the 80’s. The T1221 was the stock speaker in Marshall lead guitar 4×12 cabinets (1960 model cabs) from the mid 1960’s up until the late 1970’s and was also used by many other brands at the time. As such it is an absolute classic speaker and can be heard on countless albums. Famously used by Angus Young and an important ingredient in Van Halen’s “brown sound”. The date of entry into the Celestion log book is 6th May 1966 – see ‘Michael Doyle – History of Marshall’ – p137, however they were definitely made earlier than this. Marshall were using them in 4×12 cabs by late 1965, and I once owned one dated March 1965." My opinion - these pre Rola medium magnets sound better than the H(heavy magnet above - hear that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4k2OoLKXXCc).

1 x 'Rola' Celestion 1973 Greenback(Greyback) G12M-25W stamped KF12 (1973).
The Rola Ipswich labels first appeared in April 1971, so any speakers made after April 1971 are generally not classed as pre-rola. See https://www.bygonetones.com/celestion-pre-rola-greenbacks-explained.html
