Georges Leleu

A large French art deco chandelier with a modernist look by the famous Paris based company of Georges Leleu in nickel plated bronze or solid brass and frosted clear pressed glass. The chandelier was made around 1932-1936. Leleu founded his company by the turn of the century. It closed down in the late 30s. The seven shades in thick glass are signed 'G .Leleu' on the inside of the bowls. An earlier version of this chandelier with a less modernist mount is represented on the 1932 Leleu product poster.

The central bowl is 22 cm wide. The six satellite shades are 20 cm in diameter.  The chandelier is 27 inches (78,5 cm) high and 25,2 inches (64 cm) wide. It is in excellent condition. Some minuscule chips can be seen on the inside rim of the central bowl. Invisible with the shade in place. I have replated the mounting. And the fixture is rewired with 9 American candelabra base sockets. For European countries I will place E14 ones.
