Pictorial gilded/embossed blue cloth binding is rubbed/bumped/soiled, title spine split on hinges, both boards flexible on the hinges, endpapers foxed, front endpapers loose, all 12 colour illustrations are present and tend to have some light marking to margins not affecting image area, frontis illustration detached, rubbed at edges and stained in margin, Funeral Pyre plate detached, rubbed at edges and stained in margin, The Old King & Student plate is detached and rubbed at edges, Wicked Princess plate is loose with some marking to margin, 4cm tear to bottom left margin of p39, Tommelise on Water Lily Leaf plate is detached and stained to margin, Tommelise on Swallows Back plate is loose, Witch in Cherry Garden plate is detached. Some marking to text margins throughout with very few intermittent small dots of foxing.

It tends to be difficult to find this edition in any condition, especially with all the illustrations.

It measures 26cm x 32cm x 1.7cm and weighs 1270g.
