Hardback red cloth, gilt titled spine and front cover. Red boards mottled with pale patches. Top right corner has very small patch wear. Class prize inscription to ffep. 

Dust-jacket in Good+ condition. Not price-clipped, a little wear to corners and edges, closed tear less than 1" at top of spine, closed tear appr. 1" to rear bottom edge, small chips at top / bottom of spine, a corner strip missing from D/J inner flap (not affecting text). 

Black and white illustrations throughout by Dorothy Wheeler.
