This is an 18” Raggedy Andy doll is in its original cotton one-piece suit with royal blue pants and attached shirt with a blue, grey grid with red accents and stars, sailboats and fish. It has two enameled metal snap fasteners at back and a silver grommet at the neckline.

Orange yarn hair, black tin-looking button eyes, with imprinted four lower lashes on each eye, imprinted curving mouth line with red oval center, rosy cheeks and a slightly sloping red triangular nose with no outline. The body is floppy as intended with stitch-jointed shoulders, hips, knees and elbows and fabric-imprinted red and white striped ‘stockings’ and black ‘boots.’ The iconic ‘I love you’ heart is printed on the chest.

The doll is 18” tall and has a faded cloth tag on its side seam that reads “Johnny Gruelle’s Own Raggedy Ann & Andy Dolls/and Georgene Novelties, Inc. New York City/Exclusive Licensed Manufacturer/Made in U.S.A.” (with several copyright dates ending at 1947).

Very good vintage condition. The face paint is largely intact and bright except a bit of fading of white around the eyes. Button eyes have minor scratches and wear. The face has grime / soil / water marks. The yarn hair is good, largely intact yet shows signs of play, age and storage. The body and limbs have some grime and watermarks. Apparel is slightly faded, has grime and pulled threads here and there and two enameled white buttons that are missing from the front waist. No foul odors.
