This was the only mystery story written by W. Bolingbroke Johnson (real name Morris Bishop), who was a historian at Cornell. The book, first published in 1942, is set in what is apparently a thinly disguised Cornell (the university is unnamed in the book). Overall, it's fun to read about university life in the United States in the 1940s--not a whole lot has changed since! The dialogue is good and the woman librarian who does the sleuthing is a great character. I wish Johnson had written more mysteries using her . ( on line review)
