This violin was made in 1922 by the Heinrich Th. Heberlein shop in Markneukirchen, Germany, as branded and labeled to the internal back. It has an extra Heberlein logo stamped under the top right eye, which was reserved for the best quality models made there. I had the luthier photograph the inside back to illustrate this, so review the pictures. The shop made different quality violins, and this is the best. It has original antiquing, along with some natural as a result of normal use over a century. The back measures 356 mm by 204 mm.
Along with the violin is a Friedrich Heberlein octagonal pernambuco bow, fully lined in silver. I has a fresh rehair with no rosin applied. I looked up auction results for bows made by him, and the results were surprising. I didn't find any violin bows on Tarisio, but one cello bow that sold for $1412. in June '96, and another for $849. in '86. Point is, it's a very fine bow. It weighs 59 grams and is 29 1/4" long.
Also included is a nice used plush lined hard shell case in very good condition, suitable for every day use.
The violin is a Stradivari model with a bright and clear tone. It is well balanced in all registers, and is very responsive to the bow. It has plenty of volume, with a deep resonance that well crafted antique violins are known for.
The violin has some crack repairs of minor significance, and also cheek patches on both sides of the A and D pegs. It has well repaired wing cracks on both sides, and a crack down from the lower f-hole eye on both sides. For a hundred year old violin, not bad at all. All repairs are professionally done by a qualified luthier.
The violin will be shipped fully insured for the purchase price. Please review the pictures carefully, as they are an important part of the description. Ask any questions you may have before making an offer.
I will accept any reasonable offer.
