This dress has the works with complex smocking all the way round, a collar edged with piping and gathered fabric, puff sleeves with an edged cuff, and a white lace edged cotton underskirt.

Fastening is buttons and 2 hook and eye catches at the back.

This vintage dress must have looked retro when it was made.   We got it 2nd hand in 1998 when it was used for a themed party.  Looking at info on the make on the web, it might have been made in the 1970s or 1980s.  It has a quality look with much detailing and the hand smocking.

The dress is tailored from material that might be a wool cloth with cotton like Clydella by Viyella, but there is no label to say.  The slip is a white light weight material, perhaps a polycotton, with lace edging.

The dress has flex due to the smocking on the torso.  The dress has size '2' on the label, as seen, but the last photo shows shots of a newish, slight 4 year old wearing the dress with no sense of strain.  So I am saying it might be for an 'age 3'

Please check and ask questions if need be.
