This is the BARE PCB of a low noise, low impedance super regulator, based on Walt Jung's super regulator, first published in 1995, and gone through progressive improvement to the version depicted in 4/TA2000 ( namely Audio Electronics magazine ). In our board, the design is essentially the same, EXCEPT :

1. the voltage reference is changed from the long obsoleted zener reference LM329DZ to an array of LEDs. The performance is kept the same since the voltage reference is not in the feedback loop. The original design has been highly optimized on the feedback loop.

2. no pre-regulator. Original article has no pre-reg and with pre-reg two versions. Accordingly putting a LM317 as pre-reg can improve overall regulation specification, but not necessarily improving the sound. The converse may be true instead.

Specifications:

Output residue noise:<100uV(20Hz-20KHz -- unmeasurable on oscilloscope with 1mV/div)

Input voltage :AC 12Vx2 to 18Vx2

Minimum regulator drop out voltage : 3V

Output voltage :+/-12VDC to +/-22VDC

Regulation : <0.2%

Output current :0-500mA continuous ( recommend not to exceed 300mA continuous with existing heatsink size or fan-less design)

PCB dimension: 18cm x 9cm. PCB thickness 2mm. Super thick copper ( 2oz, 75um !!) is used, which is three times the normal thickness.

We provide part list to buyers of the board by email. WE DO NOT PROVIDE SCHEMATIC. It is because the circuit contains some minor improvements to get to better noise performance than original design. Curious and experienced users can figure this out easily but we do not plan to open the design. As long as components are stuffed right the regulator would function. For those insisting on schematic please do not place order.

The assembled board is for reference. This listing is for BARE BOARD 1 piece.

Shipping cost is US$5.50 worldwide.
