Shelby is a warm and comfortable Newsboy cap for winter and transitional seasons. The 100% wool Shelby cap is a design inspired by the headwear worn by the local Birmingham gang at the end of the 19th century. Thanks to John Douglas's novel ‘A Walk Down Summer Lane’ the story of the gang became widely known, and the newsboy cap style has become firmly established in fashion trends.

Shelby is comfortable and practical headwear. It's designed for everyday wear and perfectly complements any style. The crown of the Shelby cap is narrower than the Peaky model, which beautifully accentuates the shape of the face and doesn't visually enlarge the head. The 100% premium wool provides thermal comfort, while the cotton lining and inner sweatband make the cap comfortable to the user and gentle on the scalp. The Shelby has an attractive and aesthetic appearance thanks to the eight-panel stitched crown and a decorative button at the top. The memory-shaped visor allows for a more personalized fit.

HOW TO MEASURE

   
  • To measure your head size get a soft tape measure.
  • Measure around your head above your ears and eyebrows where your hat would normally sit.
  • If your head size falls between two sizes, we recommend that you choose the larger size of the two.
  • If you like loose fit, then please adjust the soft measuring tape in a loose way.

Sterkowski has existed since 1926. We are a family company, the third and fourth generation devoted to this craft. We have been working for the company practically since we were children. We often used to spend time after lessons in the workshop helping parents with the production or just getting underfoot. Clatter of the sewing machines, smell of the materials, heat and steam of the presses make up our natural environment. We work for our name and we do it with heart.

We do not produce on a mass scale. Plenty of our products are sown in very small batches or on an order basis. We constantly learn, seek for new inspirations, improve the methods but we are faithful to traditional cap and hat making techniques, which have worked well for 90 years. We are a workshop and we intend to remain one. It is our way.
   
   
     
       

Selection of materials

     
     
        
     
We carefully choose materials for our caps and hats. Headwear is to offer above average comfort, provide ergonomics and be head-friendly. That is why we willingly use materials such as pure wool, cotton, natural linen, Harris Tweed or genuine leather. The best hat is one that we forget about wearing on our head as if it were its part.
