Description:

A handsome, profusely illustrated volume, an account of the life of Pierre Terrail, seigneur de Bayard (c.1476-1524), by Jacques de Mailles, writing under the pseudonym of the 'Loyal Serviteur'.
Recently rebound in full green morocco, spine with raised bands and gilt lettering on red morocco label. Top edge gilt. Externally sound, firm, and clean, showing little, if any, signs of wear. Internally, equally sound and firm. Recent marbled endpapers with green cloth tape to hinges, decorative gilt dentelles to turn-ins. Pages with some foxing in places throughout, significant to first/last few leaves, and occasional minor blemishes, else clean and in good order.
