-Description: This is the original artwork for the Sunday comic strip BUCK ROGERS #273 by Rick Yager (1909-1995).  Buck Rogers was the first of the classic science-fiction/adventure heroes introduced in the 20th century.  Originally created by Phillip Nowlan, Buck enjoyed adventures in pulp magazines, comic strips, comic books, television and movies, and spawned a host of imitators (the most famous of which was Flash Gordon).  After waking up 500 years in the future, Buck rescues Wilma Deering and the two have a series of adventures on Earth as well as with a host of alien races throughout the solar system.

This 1955 Sunday finds Buck imprisoned and under (literally and figuratively) threat from a fiendish death trap arranged by Prison Warden Zopar.  All is not lost, however.  Madame Nacre has broken into the prison by impersonating a reporter as she endeavors to rescue Buck while trying to avoid capture by the guards.  Buck is pictured in the final panel, chained and imperiled.  Wonderful panel design and inking by Yager; the villainous Zopar and guards look rather unpleasant, while Nacre radiates virtue and wholesome beauty.  BSL

Condition
-The art is in very good to excellent overall condition on two sections of art board (top and bottom).  Minor age/handling wear.  The two sections of board were taped together at one time, and tape remains/residue is present in the margins and on the reverse.  The art is missing the title strip stat (which went across the top).  There is a small stat in the final panel (part of the word balloon and metallic container holding dirt).  Pencil notes to margins and reverse.
