A handsome ten-volume set, uniformly bound by White, 24 Pall Mall, [London], in full green crushed morocco over bevel-edged boards. Spines with five raised bands, gilt lettering and tooling to compartments. Decorative gilt dentelles to turn-ins. All edges gilt, top edges a little dull, fore and lower edges bright. Externally, a little rubbing to joints and extremities, some wear to one or two corners, small loss at head of spine of Vol. III and tail of Vol. IV. Marbled endpapers, clean and bright, with small circular bookplate to front pastedowns. Some splitting to inner hinges in a few volumes, leaving front hinge of Vols I & III slightly weakened. Binder's stamped signature to top corner verso of ffeps. Manuscript note relating to the binding of these volumes pasted to verso of ffep in Vol. I, dated Lond. 1848. Gift inscription to following blank in Vol I (see above), with same name and date to front blank in all other volumes. Text-blocks remain sound and firm with pages generally very clean and tidy throughout.
