The nixie tube, which has not been produced for more than 30 years, is a rare find that can display the time and maintain good preservation condition over the years.Era's team invested considerable effort in locating the nixie tube, specifically the "IN-16" model, in the lighting warehouse of the Gazotron military factory. This remarkable discovery has led to the introduction of the Nixie tube watch called "Era" by the team.
what is nixie tube？
Around 70 years ago, a groundbreaking invention emerged - an indicator tube capable of displaying numbers and symbols. This tube contained a metal mesh electrode and a 10 to 9 electrode, filled with a gas mixture of neon and either mercury or argon. When voltage was applied, each electrode would illuminate, revealing the desired numbers or symbols. This remarkable invention marked the first time humans were able to display numerical information using a tube. It was a time when the scent of ammunition filled the air, and a fierce competition for space exploration was underway. In this era of scientific and technological breakthroughs, the Nixie tube emerged, cutting through time with its mesmerizing glow.
In 1973, with the rise of LED technology, the production of nixie tubes came to a halt. However, the nostalgic warmth of their orange glow remained etched in people's memories.
The Era team set out to recreate the ambiance of 70 years ago, and the Nixie tubes played a crucial role in achieving this goal. Recognizing their significance, I procured the well-preserved IN-16 tubes from the lighting warehouse of the Gazotron military factory. These tubes, in pristine condition, were carefully selected to be used in Era, ensuring an authentic and nostalgic experience.
The IN-16 Nixie tube, specifically chosen for the watch, was preserved in its original state since its manufacture. The exact number of remaining IN-16 tubes worldwide is unknown, but their rarity and value make them highly sought after for collectors.

How to operate the watch:
Time Display: Simply press any button or raise your wrist to display the time. The Hour and Minute will be alternately displayed twice, each for 1.25 seconds. When the blue LED is off, it indicates the Hour; when it's on, it shows the Minute.
Enter Stopwatch Mode: Double press the down button to enter the Stopwatch Mode. The numbers on the two Nixie tubes will cycle through. Press the down button to start timing, press again to stop, and press once more to clear. Pressing it twice will return you to the previous interface.
Turn off Wrist Raise Display: Double press the up button to enter the menu. The menu will flash and display "00". Press any button to make the menu display "01". Double press the upper button, and it will display either "10" or "11". Press any button to switch: "10" turns off the Wrist Raise Display, while "11" enables it.
Low Battery Reminder: When the battery level drops below 10%, the red light will flash for 1.5 seconds, and the tubes will turn off. The watch can only be awakened by pressing any key.
