The inside of the covers is lined in brown silk, the heavy brown cardboard pages are intact, the album has never been used.
It dates back to the 1950s.
The resinflex of which the album cover is made is a synthetic leather created by impregnating a fabric with particular resins to create the texture of real leather.
This material and therefore this object are part of the history of Italy, that Italy which in the post-war period laid the foundations for the great economic boom of the 1960s/70s thanks to excellent minds such as that of the chemist Amerigo Hartstein who at the end of the 40 years in Turin creates this technologically innovative material.
The company founded by Hartstein took its name from its most successful product, Resinflex.
This fake leather will be the protagonist of Italy's restart and will become (even if unfortunately few people know it) a symbol of Made in Italy.
The upholstery of the Settebello trains, the interiors of Fiat cars, the Lancia Aurelia B24, and the luxury coaches Lancia Esadelta and Esatau were produced in resinflex.
Resinflex was used for the coverings of Riva motorboats and the Andrea Doria, Michelangelo and Raffaello transatlantic liners.
The material is also used in furnishings by designers of the caliber of Gio Ponti and Carlo Mollino.
The album in the advertisement was therefore in the 1950s a valuable and sought-after object created for a society that loved to surround itself with beautiful, practical and refined things.
