Offered today is this wicked cool vintage jacket/blazer worn by someone on the 1962 Austrian Ski Team!  The competition took place in Chamonix, France which is situated just north or Mont-Blanc.

The label inside at the collar is printed in German and reads: OffizEinkleider der Wm Mannschaft Chamonix Hamo Salzburg which translates to: Official clothes of the World Cup team Chamonix Hamo Salzburg

No size is indicated so I'm GUESSING that it is a medium but please check the measurements below to be sure it will work for you, assuming you want to wear it and not just possess it.

The buttons are on the right side which would lend it to being a man's jacket although I believe anyone could wear it.  Made of 100% wool with what appears to be a cotton lining, this jacket is SOLID.  It would have been very warm AND utilitarian. :-)

The buttons are very interesting.  They have 1809 on them, the words "Andreas, Hofer, Tyrol" and two emblems, one of which looks like an eagle and the other is of Andreas Hofer who according to Wikipedia is still a folk hero who fought against Napolean.  I was trying to figure out why they would have chosen this kind of button and I learned that Hofer's great grandson was a member of the resistance during WW2 which makes sense just 17 years after the close of the war.

From Wikipedia: Andreas Hofer (22 November 1767 – 20 February 1810) was a Tyrolean innkeeper and drover, who in 1809 became the leader of the Tyrolean Rebellion against the Napoleonic and Bavarian invasion during the War of the Fifth Coalition. He was subsequently captured and executed. Hofer is still today venerated as a folk hero, freedom fighter and Austrian patriot. His great-grandson Andreas Hofer was a member of the very important resistance group against Nazi Germany around the priest Heinrich Maier.

There are no holes or tear, stains or odd odors.  There are some places on the hem which show wear (see pic). But other than that this piece is in wonderful condition.

Measurements:
Pit to Pit: 23"
Shoulder to hem: 27"

This is a gem of a jacket and represents so much great history, both Austrian and Skiing.
