GERMAN HISTORY BIOGRAPHY MEMOIRS OF PRINCE CHLODWIG 2 VOLUMES 1906 1ST PRINTING.  My guess is that anyone who would be interested in this book would know about the person described in this biography but my detailed German history is a bit weak (although not entirely unaware given the references to German nobility on the excellent PBS TV series “Victoria”).  So I went to Wikipedia which came through as always; a small excerpt of what they offer is rendered here below (with my thanks):  Chlodwig Carl Viktor, Prince of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst, Prince of Ratibor and Corvey (German: Chlodwig Carl Viktor Fürst zu Hohenlohe-Schillingsfürst, Prinz von Ratibor und von Corvey) (31 March 1819 – 6 July 1901), usually referred to as the Prince of Hohenlohe, was a German statesman, who served as Chancellor of Germany and Prime Minister of Prussia from 1894 to 1900.  Prior to his appointment as Chancellor, he had served in a number of other positions, including as Prime Minister of Bavaria (1866–1870), German Ambassador to Paris (1873–1880), Foreign Secretary (1880) and Imperial Lieutenant of Alsace-Lorraine (1885–1894).  He was regarded as one of the most prominent liberal politicians of his time in Germany.”

I am particularly pleased to be able to offer a really nice set of this two volume biography, titled: “Memoirs of Prince Chlodwig of Hohenlohe-Schillingsfuerst,” the English Edition supervised by George W. Chrystal.  These two large hard cover books (6 ¼ x 9 ¼ inches, 405 & 519 pages respectively) were published by The Macmillan Company of New York, dated 1906 and the First Printing according to the information on the copyright page.  They are bound in finely ribbed dark blue cloth with embossed framing on the covers and gilt titles on the spines.  I will include photos of the Table of Contents for your further information.  Both books offer a tissue-protected portrait of the Prince as a Frontispiece and a few other illustrations, mostly of the Prince.  The top edge of the pages is gilt.

Condition:  These two books are in very good condition.  The hard covers show some very light edge wear, including a bit of bumping to the corners and spine tips and to the bottom edge of Volume I.  They are astonishingly clean and bright and the gilt titles on the spine bright and attractive.  Inside, they are unmarked although I did notice some apparent erasures; otherwise, the pages and plates are clean and bright, from cover to cover.  All the hinges are intact and the bindings are tight and sound.  These books are not ex-library or remainders.

Shipping:  These two books will be very carefully packed, with bubble wrap and solid cardboard protection and promptly mailed upon payment.  Please note that I do not charge for packing and handling; all you pay is the postage and sometimes not all of that!  Postage to US addresses for these two hard cover books will be only $6.00 for media mail.  International and Canadian buyers should note that these two volumes will easily exceed the four pound weight limit for International First Class mail and will therefore require a US Postal Service International Priority Medium Flat Rate box for shipment.  Combined shipping for multiple purchases is gladly offered.  You will pay full price for the shipping of the first book and half price for any others purchased that same week.  For example, two books with shipping at $4 each will ship for $6 combined.

The eBay site has become so popular that it is difficult to find your way back to a seller with an interesting array of listings.  Please consider “book-marking” my site so you can see a constantly changing inventory of other truly vintage books and/or collectible works.

Please also be aware that all my current listings are “winter season” listings held here in Florida.  Once the snows recede, long about end April or early May, I will return north to New York and switch these out for a different catalogue of books held there.

Please don’t hesitate to send in any questions; I will monitor closely and respond promptly.  Thanks and enjoy.
