This unit can be powered by an A/C adapter(not included). This unit powers on and seems to function well. This unit was not fully tested with ribbon tape and paper. When typing, the carriage moves, and the text is displayed on the screen. When pressing the return key, the carriage returns to the left side of the unit as expected. The dimming function also works in the display. It is my understanding that this typewriter can be used with thermal typing paper without an ink ribbon. It is also my understanding that this unit can be connected with a serial port of some type and used as a printer. Anyhow, this unit is in great shape, considering it is as old as I am.
