Please look at all NINE photos.

This is not an "autobiography" in the academic sense of the word since Houston did not write this book. Instead, Donald Day (1899-1991) and Harry Ullom (1923-2002) gathered, researched, edited, and wrote this book using only materials Houston actually wrote and/or said, thus the "autobiographical" sense of the word. Published by the University of Oklahoma Press in 1954, both the academic world and history lovers alike approved their methodology and their writing.

The book has a blue cloth cover and a factory applied red top edge stain. It is a stated First Edition, 298 pages with 21 chapters, a bibliography, and index, 14 B&W photos and 2 maps. It is in Very Good-to-Near Fine condition: strong binding and clean text pages. No torn pages, smells, page stains, markings, underlining, highlighting, or bumped corners. It has just a hint of wear. The DJ has several small chips/tears and some rubbing wear along both the top & bottom edges. There are some moisture stains that are mostly visible on the inside of the DJ. The front cover is mostly dark blue in color, and the stain does not come through or show. The back cover is mostly white in color, so more of the stain is visible. Even with the staining, the DJ did it's job and protected the book. No staining is on the cloth cover of the book. This copy will be carefully packaged to insure safe shipping. If you check several book-selling websites, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to find a hardcover edition for sale, especially a First Edition. Laid in the book are 5 pages of additional information about Day and Ullom.
