Rare & collectable sterling silver rugby league medal won by Peter Dunn playing for Bradford Northern (Bulls) as they won the Rugby League Division 2 Championship in the season 1973 - 74. They won the League with 48 points with York second on 42 points.

The front of the medal depicts the three shields of the Northern Rugby League Counties. It is further embossed:

"NORTHERN R.F.L. LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP"

The obverse is engraved:

"P. DUNN. DIV. II WINNERS 1973/4. BRADFORD".

Also included is a printout depicting the playing record of Peter Dunn during his career which lasted from 1964 until 1974.

Sterling Silver Medal: Weight: 24.5 gm. Diameter: 38 mm. Hall Mark: Birmingham 1969. Maker's Mark: Fattorini & Sons.

Peter Dunn: A professional rugby league player who played as hooker. Between 1964 & 1969 Peter played for Hunslet, moving to Leeds in 1969 where he stayed for 2 seasons. He then moved to York for a short spell before signing for Bradford Northern in 1972 - 73. This was to be his final club with his last game taking place on 1st December 1974 v Leeds which Leeds won 17 - 0.

I was fortunate recently to acquire 3 medals won by Peter Dunn during his rugby league career of which one is the medal for sale won with Bradford Northern (Bulls). The other two medals were won with Leeds (Rhinos) & Bradford Northern (Bulls) & are listed separately.

Bradford Northern (Bulls): Between 1907 and 1995 the club played under the name of Bradford Northern but in 1996 dropped "Northern" and adopted the name "Bradford Bulls" as it joined the inaugural Super League.

The club has won the RFL Challenge Cup 5 times.

Summary: Vintage Rugby League medals are very collectable & this is a superb example, of particular interest of course to anyone connected to Bradford Bulls. Good luck!
