Picked this up at an estate sale along with 3 others that were also from the Victorian EraThis is printed on a thick, heavy cardstock...approx 2mm thickThe lettering and the flags are a 3D, raised relief type of card embossingEmbossed from the backside...you can see the embossing on the back (see pics)Then colored......the blue background is actually a "flocked" dark blue (fuzzy feel as well)Two crossed furled flags in the centerColors are wonderful on this pieceVerbage is.....OUR COUNTRY'SPRAYERProtect Us By Thy MightGreat GOD Our KingCard measures approx 12" x 10"Some minor signs of wear and age....a few minor marks, scuffs and some minor loss of the flocking along top left edge (see pics)This card displays very well!Hanging string appears to be original....it is a twisted braid golden brown cordBased on a couple features.....The flags have 48 stars so that would place this between 1912 and 1959 (the years with 48 stars)...The phrasing....of.....Great GOD Our King...is probably taken from "America" (My Country Tis of Thee)and reflects the feelings of the a country at war during WWI (1914-1918) I am guessing this is probably from 1912 - 1920....I have never seen one like thisBeing made of a heavy cardstock like this is, I would imagine that most of these did not survive the "test of time"
