Beautiful, possibly vintage, figurine of the Infant of Prague with a “carved wood-look.” The figurine is approximately 8 3/4" high, 3 1/2” wide across the back of the robe, and 3 1/8" wide across the bottom of the base. “MADE IN ITALY” and “206 3” are marked on the underside of the base. The age and maker of the figurine are unknown, although the figurine appears to be vintage. The figurine appears to be made of resin or resin-mix material and the crosses on the crown and orb are made of metal. Estate sale find. A beautiful and devotional piece of Catholic art!

The original Infant of Prague is a 16th century wax-coated wooden statue of the Christ Child holding an orb with a cross. The statue is of Spanish origin and is now located in the Discalced Carmelite Church of Our Lady of Victories in Prague, Czech Republic.

The figurine appears to be in very good to excellent used condition with perhaps minor scratches, scrapes, abrasions, nicks, indentations, spots, stray marks, rub marks, and some minor loss of finish. The metal cross on the crown appears to be slightly bent or set in the crown at an angle. Some of these blemishes may be a result of the manufacturing and/or molding processes.
