Fabulous Rare Canadian 8 Day Chiming Monarch Clock by the Peguegnat Clock Co (c.1910)

Founded by Arthur Pequegnat in 1904 in Berlin, Ontario as a clock company but previously as bicycle manufacturer. Due to the decline in bicycle sales, Pequegnat decided to change tack and started making reliable timepieces for Railways, schools and offices. With the onset of WW1 Ontario changed the name of the area called Berlin to Kitchener, which helps date this particular clock, as Berlin in mentioned on the label to the reverse.

It’s called a Monarch clock for obvious reasons (King Edward on glass door) and is in fine fettle, the frame is made from Quarter Sawn Oak and is fitted with an 8 day twin train mechanism which works perfectly, striking a coil bar on the hour & half hour. It comes with its original pendulum & key and overall measures 18”W x 25”H x 5.5”D
