Federal Jr. crystal radio manufactured in Buffalo, NY in 1922.

This is a saught after radio and very hard to find in this condition , especially with original micrometer style detector.  Most get examples have had them replaced, due to breaking off.

You will need a proper longwire outdoor antenna anout 25 to 50 ' and a good indoor ground connection (cold water pipe.)

I recommend using a period correct Baldwin type C 3000 ohm headset for best sensitivity.

Nice gloss bakelite top, with no cracks or chips, but has some minor age spotting.  Glossy original black enamel paint on all sides of the metal cabinet, amazing condition for it's age ! The nickel plating is near excellent everywhere, with no rust, no pitting.

Crisp original cabinet graphics,  with slight wear at the end of detector scale. Nice original decal on base.

All very legigable.

The bottom is also in amazing condition,  retaining all 4 of its original riveted on felt feet.

The detector is in very very good condition.

The crystal was missing when I bought it, so I replaced with the period correct NOS element .

Inside, the chassis is very nice. Original double slide tuning coil, original phone condenser and original antenna condenser. All original wiring throughout.
