"Mrs. Hughes of Kingston Lisle. With the affectionate wishes of her obliged friend, the Author. From p. 151 of vol. 3 to the end of that volume was written in six days at Kingston Lisle at the beginning of October, 1839. W.H.A."

Mrs. Hughes (Margaret) lived with her husband, John, in Donnington Priory in the village of Kingston Lisle, Berkshire, about 75 miles west of London. The modern binding is unworn, with just a tiny bit of sunning to the spines. Each volume with the engraved armorial bookplate of John Hughes, Donnington Priory. The binder has removed these from the original bindings and applied them to the new pastedowns.

Most of the engravings and their tissue guards with some foxing, but this is a beautiful, Fine copy.
