A antique solid 9 carat gold novelty propelling pencil, in the form of a cross pendant. It has a hexagonal design to its barrel and cross bar, with its front and back decorated with hand chased details. It has no makers mark and is not hallmarked, but I have acid tested its gold purity, which is solid 9 carat gold and weighs 3.63 grams.
It has a decorative flower design to its slider button, which slides down the barrel to reveal the pencil mechanism, which is working fine propelling the lead ready for use, see photos 7 & 8. Including the bale ring, it measures 64 mm long closed x 68 mm long with the pencil out and is 22 mm wide.
It dates to the Victorian period and is in good working condition, with a pencil lead fitted and having no damage at all. Please see photos
