The black cap has gilt oak leaves (scrambled egg) to the peak indicating it’s for a commander or ships
captain of the RN. It has the label of “Gieves of London” sewn within the interior and is in fine fettle with obvious signs of use. It originally would have been fitted with a kings crown but has been exchanged for a Queens, probably upon the coronation in 1953. (RN Black caps were issued during WW2 and reverted to white caps in 1956). The interior of the cap measures @58cm in circumference and has no rips or tears.
