Spot documented the late 70's and early 80's beach culture like no other. He landed in Hermosa Beach, CA at a time when Black Flag were still living in an abandoned church and Hells Angels hung out at the foot of the Hermosa pier. Spot, being a musician himself, met up with Greg Ginn, founder of SST Records and guitar player for Black Flag, and began engineering all the seminal bands that SST was releasing at the time like Black Flag, The Minutemen, The Big Boys, etc. At the same time he became staff photographer for a local newspaper called The Easy Reader that allowed him to document the beach culture that surrounded him in LA's South Bay. He shot skaters, surfers, punks, stoners, bikini contests, and roller skaters as the So. Cal. beach world was leaving the hippy and metal aesthetic behind and entering the Reagan era where yuppies and hardcore were birthed. this is an incredibly rare edition of this zine that was launched at The LA Art Book Fair as a tease to his upcoming book "The Sound of Two Eyes Opening". Photographer, artist, and skateboarder Ed Templeton edited, designed, and drew two images from the book that he then silk-screened on the front and back covers. An edition of 500 were printed. Of those five hundred only fifty were signed by both Spot and Templeton.
