This listing is for a "The Pedler Co." (Elkhart, IND.) Bb soprano clarinet. I would rate this as an intermediate level horn. It has a grenadilla wood body (upper and lower main joints) with a composite (possibly hard rubber, or resonite) bell and barrel. This was a fairly common combination on vintage clarinets. It was done as a compromise to balance quality with cost as the bell are barrel are more expensive to manufacture out of wood, and they are also the parts most prone to cracking when made of wood.

This instrument is in excellent physical, playing, and cosmetic condition. There are no cracks to the wood body, nor any past crack repairs. The tenons and tone holes are free of chips. The bell and barrel are also in excellent condition, with no damage. The keys are all moving freely and rebounding properly. There is no visible wear to the nickel plating on the key-work although its luster has dulled slightly with age. This instrument has just been thoroughly inspected and serviced as needed. It now plays properly from top to bottom. Below is a short demo clip of a chromatic scale to show that it does indeed play from top to bottom.

This clarinet comes with a Bruno Maxitone plastic mouthpiece, ligature, and cap. The mouthpiece is nothing particularly special, but it is in good condition. The facing is smooth, and there are no tooth marks on the beak. It has been cleaned/sanitized.

This instrument comes in a light weight Protec brand case case. It is in excellent condition with minimal wear and tear. The inside is clean and odor free.
