WWII SOLDIER 1945 TO MOM FROM BOB IN FRANCE FRENCH LADLE & PIE KNIFE

when I purchased this set from an estate 10 years ago I was told that it was a soldier send back from the war. It says “to mother from Bob in France 1945”

I think it’s plated. Marked with LF and to crisscrossed LL marks. Some other marks as well.
