Pigalle are the premium Mexican hatter - they've been making traditional Sombrero and Mariachi hats for over a century. Please be aware this hat was over £300 when it was custom designed back in the 1980's - it is not one of those cheap, toy Sombreros you can buy at Tijuana Airport on your way out. If you need something for a fancy dress party you can get a fake one for £10 - this is a serious traditional Mexican hat and not a joke!

This hat in particular is a very unusual design. Normally, Pigalle hats are flat disc brim Sombrero shape or have one side turned up. This one is almost like a bicorn shape - as mentioned this is a custom made one so wasn't available through their normal shop - we sell a lot of hats and have never seen one like this before.

It's very subtle for a Pigalle. As you probably know they're usually covered in silver and ridiculously bling. This ones a nice, subtle plain black felt with a simple silver cord belt.

Sizing these is difficult as they're designed to sit atop your head rather than securely over the forehead - it's a ceremonial hat rather than a working ranchers hat! As it was custom made there's no size label but I'd say it falls between a size small to medium.

Condition

Outstanding condition! This was used as a display piece and has never been worn. It's in mint condition. There's some dust on the top from storage but nothing you can't just brush away. Inside it's as new. No marks, dents, loose stitching or fading and it's maintained its original shape perfectly.
