Aphelandra hartwegiana is a stunning plant that adds vibrant red-orange and yellow colors to the landscape or patio collection. The bright orange bloom stalks can grow up to 15 inches in length and will continue releasing small yellow florets throughout the bloom cycle. These bright bloom spikes can last over a week.

Aphelandra hartwegiana will bloom most prolifically in high light, but will tolerate partial shade. Moderate watering is appropriate for this upright growing plant. Appropriate for container growth or in-ground planting, Aphelandra hartwegiana will grow to a height of 6-8 ft and can tolerate aggressive pruning after flowering. When pruning post-bloom, take care to avoid harming the beginnings of any new blooms to ensure the next bloom cycle is as full as the first.
