Each Official Catholic Directory contains information on every diocese in the U.S. and its territories. They include names of cardinals and archbishops, parish names, schools, priests , other institutions within the diocese, like seminaries, retreat houses, monasteries and religious communities of women. They also include an alphabetical list of secular and regular priests of the U. S. and their assignment location during that year. There is also a necrology section listing the names of clergy who have died during the year. Each book is hardcover, has over 1400 pages, and measures 11.25 inches by 8.5 inches by 2.5. inches.

These books range from acceptable to good condition, based on eBay listing criteria. All have tight bindings, no missing pages, and only minor bumping, scuffing and scrapes to the cover. The acceptable books have some small notations in page margins. Some have the previous owner's name handwritten inside the front cover. The 1981, 1983 and 1987 editions have added attached page markers.
