We are pleased to be selling thousands of early engravings, lithographs, and prints from the incredible collection amassed by Winfield Robbins (1840-1910) of Arlington, Massachusetts. After his death in 1910, the collection was donated to local institutions where it has sat for the last 100+ years. The collection covers many styles of works over numerous centuries so be sure to check back regularly for new listings.


This listing is for a large antique mezzotint of Thomas Carlyle. The mezzotint was made by Richard Josey don after a painting by James Abbott McNeil Whistler. It is signed and inscribed in pencil in the lower right by Josey . Sheet measures about 20” x 17” . There is some scattered toning to the sheet including a light stipe across the middle from when formerly framed.
