This listing is for an antique day dress (bodice and skirt) dating from the late Victorian/early Edwardian era. The dress is made from cotton dimity(?) with a charming small figure of pink with blue and yellow against a fine zigzag stripe.  The lined  "pigeon breast" bodice features front tucks edged with lace. The high neck is also edged with lace and is further embellished with a jabot-style ruffle lined with blue grosgrain at the back. Tuck pleating accentuates the tiny waist at the center back, and is further set off by a blue grosgrain sash. The bias cut sleeves have a slight fullness at the shoulder and fit tightly down the arm to a slashed cuff also edged with lace and faced with blue. Closely fitting over the hips in front, the skirt is tightly pleated at the center back for fullness. There is a slight train in the back, but not enough to impede walking.

Despite its age, the dress is in fine condition and the fabric is sound. There are no major stains or tears. Two hook receptors are missing at the overlap of the bodice at the sash. The dress should hold up to gentle wear.
