The late Canadian music icon Gordon Lightfoot has hand-signed a rare original copy of his first ever album release titled: “Two Tones at the Village Corner” released in January of 1962 on Chateau Records. This album was signed in-person by Lightfoot backstage at Massey Hall in Toronto, Canada following his show on May 21st, 2005. A ticket stub from that evening's show will be included. The Two Tones were comprised of Lightfoot and his partner at the time Terry Whalen. This album was recorded on January 20th, 1962 at The Village Corner in Toronto after an ice storm.   A true piece of rock n roll lore for the music buff in your life!  This is the exact item you are bidding on and you will be hard-pressed to find another of these authentically signed.

In January, 1962 Gordon Lightfoot recorded a live album, performing with his high school friend Terry Whelan in a duo called the Two Tones. The album, called Two Tones At The Village Corner, was released on Chateau. Most of the songs are international folk, including standards such as The Fox, Copper Kettle and Kilgarry Mountain, but Lightfoot included one original (This Is My Song), and also a Merle Travis song called "Dark As A Dungeon"; that's his partner, Terry Whelan, introducing "Gordie". The original song is nothing like those he would be writing and performing a year and a half later, but his vocals on the Travis standard were very much in the "Lightfoot style", and his guitar playing illustrates "Travis style" fingerpicking, which he would go on to use in many of his songs over the next five decades.

Lightfoot was born on Nov. 17, 1938, in Orillia, Ont. A talented youth, he performed at Massey Hall at the age of 13 as well as in a barbershop quartet called the Teen-Timers during high school. Soon after, he performed with a choral and dance group on CBC’s Country Hoedown and later played the North American coffeehouse circuit. Lightfoot’s big break came with If You Could Read My Mind and was followed by hits Alberta Bound, Did She Mention My Name? and The Way I Feel. His accolades include 15 Juno Awards, an induction into the Juno Hall of Fame, the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award and the first induction to the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003.
