This laptop has had a clean install of Windows XP Professional and I've preloaded a few games - Age of Empires, Quake 2, Quake 3, Command & Conquer Red Alert 2. If you need to be sure it runs a particular game, let me know and I'll pre-test it and leave it installed if legal to do so.

I have installed a brand new BIOS battery and the internals have been inspected for any issues and cleaned. This uses a kind of graphite pad rather than paste on the CPU which is doing an excellent job of thermal transfer, and won't need changing as it dries up, so I've left it alone.

The original battery is charging and working - although my software reports it at 70% health, which means it just holds 30% less charge than it did when it was new. Centrino machines were very good with their power consumption - so I would still expect a decent battery life, although I don't test them for any longer than 20 minutes. The charger is brand new.

A 1.7GHz Pentium M is at the core of this machine, which is more powerful and produces less heat than faster clocked Pentium 4s of the era. Coupled with 2GB of RAM and the integrated Intel 915GM Graphics, this should handle itself well.

The screen is a widescreen 1280x800 but there is a software toggle so you can run your 4:3 ratio games with black bars rather than stretching them to fit, making it quite versatile. There are some very minor backlight blemishes that are typical of laptops of this age, but they only really show when looking at a solid colour.

Optical drive is working great, the speakers sound great and the latest drivers and BIOS have been installed.

Externally, there are a few scuffs and marks, but once the lid is opened - it looks in remarkably good condition, with the trackpad and keyboard barely looking used and minimal signs of wear.

I put a lot of effort into my laptop restorations and this one is no exception!

“Used” means tested and working and only sold if I would be happy using it myself. That means fresh thermal paste and batteries if needed and no swollen capacitors, temporary reflow fixes or stability issues. My high feedback and exceptionally low return rate speaks for itself.

All photography is my own and screenshots are taken during the testing process, so you will get exactly what is seen.

I package things carefully, with sensitive components in anti-static bags and guarantee same day dispatch if ordered before ~2pm on weekdays. I’m always happy to combine shipping.

I’m here to help - so feel free to contact me for pre-sales advice and guidance. Many people want a desktop/laptop for playing a specific game - I regularly do custom orders so you know what you are buying will work perfectly for you.
