Beautiful 19th century rustic earthenware confit pot or jar, for storing meat and fat, from Southwest France. Features a yellow ochre exterior glaze with a yellow interior glaze.  The bottom half of the exterior is unglazed as it was often buried in the ground to help preserve the meat.  Measures 9” high x 11” handle to handle x 6 1/2” diameter at rim. In as found condition, Patina and wear consistent with age and use, no notable large cracks or repairs, may need further cleaning, please see all photos. A fine addition to any home or collection!
