his Customized DID Figure represents a US Army Buffalo Soldier in the 9th Cavalry during the Philippine -American War from 1898-1902.

During the Spanish American War, Spain relinquished control of the Philippine Islands to the USA in the Treaty of Paris of 1898. After the treaty was ratified fighting broke out between US Forces and Filipino Nationalists led by Emilio Aguinaldo. These nationalists had been fighting Spain for years and rejected American Rule. This is often called a FORGOTTON War.

The US Army was segregated at this time when the US War Department sent the black 24th and 25th Infantry Regiments to the Philippines. Later two additional black volunteer units, the 48th and 49th US Volunteer Infantry were called to serve in the war. Members of the 9th and 10th US Cavalry aka "The Buffalo Soldiers" also served in the Philippine-American War. The war officially ended on July 4th, 1902 when the Filipino Resistance floundered and dispersed.
