Space Alert - alarm in space

Distinguished brave cadets, welcome to the accelerated training course, space exploration theme. You volunteered to serve on a Clay Pigeon-class exploration ship. Your task will be to explore certain regions of the galaxy. The process is simple: The ship will automatically perform the hyperspace jump to the specified sector, map the region, and automatically jump back home. The entire operation will take just 10 minutes, during which you will have nothing to do at all. As I certainly don't need to explain to you, these are the best paid 10 minutes of doing nothing you'll ever find.

A mission actually only lasts 10 minutes - but a lot can happen in 10 minutes... Enemy ships can appear suddenly, interstellar dangers such as swarms of asteroids or space amoebas can endanger the mission, extraterrestrial boarding parties can march to the bridge. The players have to coordinate and have each other's backs. Someone wants to fire the laser cannon on the bridge? But then someone else has to provide the energy for the cannon in the engine room. Not all that easy given all the hustle and bustle! A fast, cooperative game in which players have to coordinate their actions with each other under time pressure. Two included CDs provide the timing, but Space Alert can also be played without a CD player. Space Alert was honored by the Game of the Year 2009 jury with the special New Game Worlds prize. The jury says: Space Alert creates a completely new, independent, absolutely unmistakable gaming experience and therefore receives the New Game Worlds special prize, which is awarded for the first time. Under time pressure, the players have to quickly complete successive tasks together, which are specified and timed using an acoustic medium. Various game elements are combined and used in such an unusual way that a previously unknown atmosphere is created at the gaming table.
