The wooden tennis racket was manufactured in quantity until the early 1980's when metal and later composites took over. The last wooden racquet appeared at Wimbledon in 1987. Yannick Noah is the last player who won a Grand Slam tournament with a wooden racket, at Roland-Garros in 1983.
