This is a 1936, bronze, commemorative medal for the Long Island Tercentenary, remembering the arrival of the first Dutch settlers on Long Island in 1636 and their meetings with the Native peoples at the time.  The front of the medal shows a Native American and an early Settler with the dates 1636-1936.  The words "Long Island Tercentenary Commemoration" are around the edge and the dates 1636-1936 are between the people.  The back side shows an American eagle and 2 posts topped with hatchets.  It reads "Long Island's First White Settlement, 1636".  From what I can find, this is called a "So-called dollar" (not a real dollar).  There is slight wear and the back side has a small spot of gummy residue, otherwise, the medal is in very good condition.
