A LOVELY SET OF SEVEN 3rd WATERMARK KANGAROO STAMPS ISSUED 1915-1924: “CANCELLED-TO-ORDER” HINGED WITH FULL ORIGINAL GUM - FROM COLLECTOR SETS/UPU DISTRIBUTION/VIP PRESENTATION PACKS - COMBINED CV$675
The 3rd watermark series of Kangaroo stamps was issued in Australia between 1915 and 1924 through the various Government Printers of the period. J.B. COOKE printed the first 3rd Watermark series (1915 to 1918) and subsequently ’T.S. HARRISON' (1918 to 1924) followed by the 6d CHESTNUT, 9d VIOLET, and 1/- EMERALD which were printed to 1927 by 'HARRISON', ‘A.J. MULLET' and 'J ASH' off the Die IIb Plates.
These marsupials are drawn from the MELBOURNE GENERAL POST OFFICE (GPO) ‘presentation packs’ reserved for VIPs; special occasions and for sale to the general public. All are very fresh with carefully applied CTO postmarks. All have their original gum and, very nice perforations (centering is always difficult with these). LOVELY GPO POSTMARKS. The 10/- and 5/- both CV at $200 each. The 2/- MAROON CVs at $100. The 5/- is the bright yellow CHROME shade and the 10/- is a DEEP ANILINE PINK! Stunning stamps.
