G. elwesii ‘Polar bear’ is a recently selected Dutch cultivar with large, upward tilted flowers. It has especially broad outer perianths, whereas the inner perianths form a neat cupped outer petals with small inner petals each with a large green blotch and a smaller inverted "v". . Due to its upward tilt, one can appreciate these qualities of the flower from a distance.

  • Shape: 20 cm high, quickly forms a carpet.
  • Flower: Complimenting white petals on slender stems, emerging at the end of February, beginning of March - even from under the snow.
