Amazing & Much Sought-after Black Forest Bim Bam Bracket Clock by Lenzkirch d.1890

Aktiengesellschaft für Uhrenfabrikation Lenzkirch was founded in 1851 in the village of Lenzkirch in Baden by Eduard Hauser, who had trained in France and Switzerland.

The firm acquired a reputation for building particularly fine regulators and up until the 1920s it still produced regulators with compensated pendulums and precision movements. The firm was later taken over by Junghans and the factory closed down in 1932, at which period the market for wall regulators had collapsed.

This fabulous Bim Bam Oak cased bracket clock is made in the great tradition & precision of Black Forest clockmakers. The serial No 906983, accurately dates this to the later part of 1890 which is marked to the back of the mechanism plate along with the clockmakers mark & name. The case with its plethora of brass decoration is in fine fettle with a couple of minor losses commensurate with its age. The brass & silvered clock face is clean and is protected behind a thick brass and bevelled glass door with locking catch.

The 8 day mechanism has been cleaned and lightly oiled, which works well, it keeps good time and strikes the twin coil bars every quarter, announcing the time on the hour.

It measures 17”H x 7.5”D x 11”W and comes with its original key, pendulum and previous service history in an envelope.

Fantastic timepiece!
