Offering for sale is scarce set of Antique Hercules Safety Stud Protector Gold Diamond Button Anti Theft Gadget Set. Found in jeweler's estate, are five shirt button stud anti theft devices. Warranted Gold Filled. Patent dates to 1906. Rich folks would wear french cuff shirts that required buttons and cufflinks and if you were real rich they were made in gold with diamonds. The card says "no more danger of losing or of thieves nipping your Diamond studs". One places the device on the back side of the shirt on the inside. It slips over the studs arm and one twist the device to lock it on. The device is bigger than a button hole so the shirt stud cannot be pulled off without tearing the fabric. It is in excellent condition - Unused new old stock - There is minor storage wear and patina - We have not cleaned them - The card is brittle and writing on back and writing on back and the right hand corner chipped off since the photos were taken.
