DESCRIPTION

This classic early example of Palekh box was created and signed by early and famous artist Peter Zertsalov (1923 - 1997) from Fedoskino. The handpainted artwork depicting a young mother or sister with a cute little boy carrying on her back. Zertsalov’s other artwork was selected by recognized expert Of Russian Folk Art Ludmila Pirogova for her album

 Painter used red, yellow, green, white and gold paints . The box is made of wood or papier-mache and signed with the artist’s signature.

The artist painted all the small details with gold paints to enhance them. The box by itself is classicaly black coloured and the interior is red.  


Excellent handpainted artwork of a registered artist from the early period of Palekh art. Rare shaped box is suitable for keeping lady's opera or theater jewellery, perfumes etc.

Great condition compared it’s age! Little glaze loss arond the signature, on the bottom right corner of the painting. Black on black, but a tiny shiny surface is missing, Simple task for a restorer. See photos as a part of the description.
