This encaustic tile features a geometric pattern, inspired by tiles found in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Each tile is 20cm by 23cm and 15mm thick, with 12 tiles to a box.
They are suitable for any room in your house, and as is normal with encaustic cement tiles they are very hardwearing. They can be used for walls as well as for flooring. They would look equally good in a hallway or on a kitchen or bathroom floor. They would also make a very stylish feature splashback in your kitchen.
The price listed is per box, with each box covering 0.45m2. You will need 26.25 tiles for each m2, and it is always a good idea to add 10% to any order in case of wastage.
These encaustic tiles are handmade so you may notice slight variations in the finished pattern and colour between tiles. This is all part of the charm and authenticity of handmade tiles.
Please Note:
You must seal encaustic tiles with a suitable impregnating sealant in order to protect your tiles against staining and fading. LTP Mattstone is our recommended sealant for encaustic tiles. An initial application needs to be made before grouting, with a further application after grouting. It is also a good idea to use an intensive cleaner on the tiles before initial application of the sealer. LTP Grimex is our recommended product for intensive cleaning.
Flexible white powder adhesive must be used, we recommend using a light coloured grout. We have a selection of grouts and adhesives available online. If you do not see the shade of grout that you require online, then contact us and we will do our best to get the correct shade for you.
Encaustic tiles are not generally recommended for outside use in our climate, though if you live in a built up area that does not generally drop below zero in the winter then they may be fine.
CLEANING - a neutral cleaner must be used. LTP Waxwash is our recommendation for use on encaustic tiles.
DO NOT USE A STEAM MOP on encaustic tiles.
