I just love watching movies, don't we all! Unfortunately, a lot of times I catch myself paying more attention to the settings rather than the plots. The interior decor and especially do so when watching a movie set in the 1700-1800s. All of the beautiful decorative items they use as props, we've even had a studio or two ask us about sending pieces out on approval to use in sets. In any event, you nearly always see a great old barometer hanging on the wall. This one impressive, French or Swiss as the barometer dial text would indicate and hand carved oak in the Black Forest style with reticulated case, foliate accents and Fruits of the Hunt style bust of a wild boar at the top and game birds flanking the thermometer. A brass framed aneroid barometer on the lower end, the paper or card dial with French text and has a maker or retailer initials marking. A thermometer is intact and mounted on white enamel on copper plaque. These most often had mercury thermometers but that has been a closely monitored substance as of late and not mailable really. Of course, we really don't have time to test the accuracy (and the weather here in Southern California is pretty much the same everyday) but they always make simply fabulous decorative accents and, with the myriad of sources for the weather, not many of us would be checking these to determine how our day is going to be :).

Very good condition. A tiny chip to the boar's snout, possibly a few other small nips but, as you can see, it's in great shape.  I see no other chips, breaks or repairs and the card barometer dial is in great shape with just a few spots where the white is missing, the glass cover is likely a replacement.  See pictures for all measurements.

The shipping price, speed and handling are actually under the sole control of the delivering postal agency, not Antiques & Uncommon Treasure so please remember that and leave us high DSR rankings. Insurance has been eliminated as an option by ebay, forcing us sellers to either ship your items without insurance or assume that expense also. We always insure our items BUT, more importantly, pack them extremely well knowing that most are not replaceable. Again, damage in transit, while rare in our experience, is due to the postal agency handling and not caused by Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. Please remember that when leaving DSR ratings. Thanks!

Our shipping days are Tuesday and Friday, paid items will be shipped on the first shipping day after payment is received (except when special circumstances exist). We prefer to use USPS whenever possible, and require all packages to be insured. If you prefer another method of shipment, please mention it. We charge only actual expense of shipment/insurance, except in the case of larger items which must have special wood crates built. Wood crate charge, when applicable, is a flat $35.00 in addition to actual postage & insurance charges.

8.75% sales tax applicable as of April 1st, 2009 for shipments & sales within the state of California, no exceptions. If you are within CA and are a dealer buying for resale, you must provide us your active resale certificate # and acknowledgment of intent to resell or we will have to collect sales tax. No exceptions.
